Fulcrum Impact
I worked as part of a multidisciplinary team (CEO, data scientists, back-end developer) to design a UI and create a prototype for an application that would be implemented internally at a major healthcare company and sold as a stand alone product. The application was designed to enhance business intervention evaluation:
“Fulcrum Impact is a first-of-its-kind product that allows companies’ own data science teams access to make intervention measurement significantly more efficient, accurate, and repeatable. By providing a repository of code, analyses, and reporting templates, it enables disparate teams to effectively generate faster insights for better decision making.” - Fulcrum Analytics Website
Team Challenges:
Constantly shifting priorities between client prototype and internal product development
Complex and unique conceptual model needed to be understood
Solutions:
We had to prioritize client goals while making note of future sprints for features that would be added for internal product development at a later date
Conceptual modeling documentation was put together and internal meetings were held in order for the product team to learn more about the system and vocabulary
Personal Challenges:
Without much prior knowledge of the industry I had to get up to speed quickly while trying to understand the conceptual model developed for the tool. I also did the front-end development work for this application which involved web based languages (previously known) and python (somewhat familiar with but not familiar with the long list of libraries we used). I had to iterate quickly and learn as I worked.
